A little holiday hope
Dec 20, 2024**Finding Light This Holiday Season**
The holiday season has a way of sneaking up on us, doesn’t it? For some, it’s a time of joy, reflection, and gathering with loved ones. For others—especially those navigating major life changes—it can feel bittersweet or even overwhelming.
If you’re feeling uncertain in your marriage, the holidays often shine a spotlight on dynamics or patterns that might have gone unnoticed before. This season could be an opportunity to pause and reflect. Ask yourself: What brings you peace? What traditions feel meaningful, and which ones leave you feeling drained? It’s okay to set boundaries and step back from situations that feel like too much. Protecting your energy isn’t selfish—it’s a gift to yourself and those who depend on you.
For those who have already left a marriage or are grieving its end, the holidays can bring up unexpected emotions. Memories of past traditions may feel especially poignant, and the idea of starting over might feel daunting. It’s natural to experience sadness and longing while also holding space for healing. Take things one moment at a time. Instead of focusing on recreating the past, consider creating new traditions that reflect where you are today and where you hope to go.
This time of year is also the season of light—a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there’s hope to be found. Maybe it’s in the laughter of your kids as they hang ornaments on the tree or a quiet moment of calm when you allow yourself to simply breathe. The light might feel small, but it’s there, waiting to grow.
Wherever you are on your journey—whether you’re holding on or letting go—give yourself grace. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s okay to take this season at your own pace.
This year, I hope you find peace, strength, and moments of joy in even the smallest places. Let this be a season of growth, reflection, and, above all, light.
